Zanaco Ladies Football Club, spent part of their Christmas Eve morning extending a hand of support to some underprivileged children at Merciful Begining Orphanage in Chunga Compound.

The Ladies team and management decided to celebrate with kids at the orphanage in order to put a smile on their faces by sharing with them the little resources that their had put together as a team from their earnings.

The donation was part of the team’s quest to give back to the community, especially to the underprivileged.

Head coach, Florence Mwila made the presentation of assorted food stuffs, groceries, toiletries and blankets on behalf of the team.

The orphanage was founded by Helen Banda in 2018 and currently have no sponsors and only depends on well wishers.

Currently, the orphanage has 90 kids, apart from shelter, food and clothes, the orphanage management also ensures that these kids get educated.

Mwila, said the team would continue to support the less privileged in the society, especially those in orphanages and they’re looking forward to make another donation during the Easter period.

“On behalf of Zanaco Ladies Football Club, I am very pleased to be able to visit our brothers and sisters here.”

“I also want to take this opportunity to applaud the propriators and founders of this orphanage, for their work and continued support towards these kids.”

“We are here to celebrate the festive season with you in order put a smile on your faces because we believe in giving back to the community.”

“We as Zanaco Ladies Team have put hands together to make this small donation of which we felt will go a long way and make a difference.”

“We are delighted to be here once again and this will definitely not be the last time we will be doing such a thing.” She said

Zanaco FC Administrative Officer, Roy Mutombo also explained the club’s essence of their donation to the less privileged.

“Charity is very important whilst we’re living our daily lives, it is also very important to remember the underprivileged.”

“Ladies team and management planned this event together.”

“It was also an emotional experience especially when you look at the conditions under which these kids are living in, but we’re happy that we’ve rendered a helping hand.” Mutombo said

Meanwhile, Merciful Beginning Orphanage founder, Hellen Banda who spoke on behalf of the orphanage, commended Zanaco Ladies team for their kind gesture.

Five Zanaco FC replica jerseys were also handed to kids who gave correct answers to general knowledge questions.
